TV Dinners In History:
The TV dinners were first developed in 1944 by William L. Maxson and the dinners were served on airplanes. Also in 1948 plain fruits and vegetables were sold with a main course. Quaker States Foods in 1952 had the first frozen dinners on aluminum trays, which included the many sides that Swanson would then use as well.
C.A. Swanson & Sons was the first successful TV dinner manufacturer, as they already were a large producer of canned and frozen poultry. People could trust this brand, this made it possible for them to have widespread sales with selling 10 million dinners in their first year. The first TV dinner was the Thanksgiving meal. The creators originally wanted an easy way to make the Thanksgiving meal, which had great success of over 5,000 turkey meals. which then after its success more meals were created to appeal to all audience's tastes.

By 1959, Americans were spending $2.7 billion annually on frozen foods. Half-a-billion of that was spent on ready-prepared meals like the TV Dinner. The food industry was forever changed as today we still have frozen dinners, though now the tray is no longer made of aluminum but plastic and paper. In the 1980's the plastic was introduced so the frozen meal could be heated in the microwave as well as the oven.
People eat on the run, and have premade foods due to the impact of the TV dinner from the 1950s.
